Meet our new Clan Genealogist Frances Mallett!
Hi my name is Frances and I'm married to my soul mate coming 27 years this May. We have 4 beautiful grown up children and I've been interested in genealogy for a very long time. My passion started after I watch the TV series Roots. I could not believe that someone could be taken from their families and turned into slaves in a different country. That program had a lasting effect on me.
After that series was over I remember asking my father all about his family and since then I've been hooked on the genealogy. That was 1981. Unfortunately, here in Ireland a lot of records were destroyed. So that's were DNA may be able to fill in the gaps. I have now move onto trying to understand DNA. I have done an autosomal test with family tree DNA. I am willing to go to Derry City Cemetery and cemeteries around Derry and take photos of headstones for people. If anyone has done a DNA test and has uploaded their data to gedmatch I will do a few comparisons on that when I can.
I'd love to get all the Lafferty's DNA. If I had the gedmatch number I could work on which Lafferty's are related to each other. Then see who lines up on the same chromosomes, I think this would be interesting.
